I cannot take credit for this wonderful idea. The work is all Erin Hunter, a pen name used by 3 women who write a great book series!
I could talk for hours about Warriors, but I’ll spare you the details. Basically, the Warriors books are about groups of cats living in the forest. Thunderclan, Riverclan, Windclan, and Shadowclan.
Thunderclan is strong and great in battle. They fallow the warrior code, but sometimes question it. They live in the oak forest and normally eat mice, squirrels or small birds. They are the main clan in the book series.
Rivercaln is the only clan that knows how to swim. They are very sleek and well fed. They admire beauty and sometimes collect seashells or rocks to put in their dens. They live in a marshy area near the lake and next to a river. They noramally ate fish, and but will also eat water vole.
Windclan is the fastest clan in the forest. The cats are thin, but normally have long legs. They are can be quick to flee, and they are easily offended, due to the fact that most cats see them as weak. They live on the open moorlands, which gives them lots of space to run. They love to eat rabbits, but have also learned to hunt squirrels.
Shadowclan are battle hungry, ambitious cats. They hunt by night and are normally quick to jump to conclusions. Most cats don’t like them (I am one of those cats). They live in the dark pine forest and will eat frogs, snakes and lizards.
The Warrior code has 15 rules. I’ve tried my hardest to memorize them, but I also have my field guide to help me:
1) Defend your Clan, even with your life.
2) Do not hunt or trespass on another Clan’s territory.
3) Elders and kits must be fed before apprentices and warriors.
4) Prey is killed only to be eaten. Give thanks to Starclan for its life.
5) A kit must be at least six moons old to become an apprentice.
6) Newly appointed warriors will keep a silent vigil for one night after receiving their warrior name.
7) A cat cannot be made deputy without having mentored at least one kit.
8 ) The deputy will become Clan leader when the leader dies or retires.
9) After the death or retirement of the deputy, the new deputy must be chosen before moonhigh.
10) A gathering of all four Clans is held at the full moon during a truce that lasts for the night. There shall be no fighting among Clans at this time.
11) Boundaries must be checked and marked daily. Challenge all trespassing cats.
12) No warrior may neglect a kit in pain or in danger, even if that kit is from a different Clan.
13) The word of the Clan leader is the warrior code.
14) An honorable warrior does not need to kill another cats to win his battles, unless they are outside the warrior code or it is necessary for self-defense.
15) A warrior rejects the soft life of a kittypet.
Every rule is important. There are a lot of words in this that you may not understand. Here are some key definitions:
- Elder- an old, retired warrior or queen
- Kits- A baby cat that is less than six moons old
- Queen- A female cat that is nursing or pregnate
- Medicine Cat- A cat that knows how to use herbs to heal other cats, they are also very close with Starcaln
- Apprentice- A cat that is older than six moons old and is learn the ways of being a warrior.
- Warrior- A cat that is loyal to his or her leader, hunts and patrols and sometimes teaches an apprentice.
- Deputy- The leader’s helper, assistant, and friend
- Leader- The cat that is in charge of the clan. They call meetings, order patrols and normally leads cats into battle. They are normally wise and understanding.
- A moon- One month
- Starclan- A group of dead clan cats that watches over the living clans. Basically like the gods of the warriors.
- Kittypet- A house cat
I hope this inspires you to go out and read the warriors series. It’s really good and I suggest it to anyone how like to read about the adventures, mysteries and romances of being a wild cat.
Here’s a great video I found on Warriors:
